New Delhi. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has given important advice to all the citizens of the country regarding the use of the Aadhaar Card. UIDAI on Friday asked people to use their Aadhaar card judiciously to avail of various services and exercise the same level of caution as sharing any other important identity proof.
The UIDAI said in a statement, “While sharing an Aadhaar number or card with any trusted entity, the same level of care can be taken as mobile number, bank account number or passport, voter ID card, PAN, ration card, etc. Just like sharing any other document.”
Verify with Digital ID
It states that Aadhaar is the digital ID of residents and serves as a single source of identity verification for citizens online and offline. Residents can use their Aadhaar number to verify and validate their identity certificates electronically or through offline verification.
UIDAI provides the facility to generate a Virtual Identifier (VID) wherever a resident does not want to share his Aadhaar number. One can easily generate VID by visiting the official website or through the Myaadhaar portal and using it for authentication in place of an Aadhaar number.
Citizens also have the option of biometric locking
UIDAI also provides the facility of biometric locking along with Aadhaar locking. If a resident is not likely to use Aadhaar for a period of time, he may lock his Aadhaar or biometrics for such a period of time. It can be unlocked easily and quickly when required.
UIDAI provides a technologically advanced ecosystem to ensure a secure, smooth, and quick authentication experience for the Aadhaar number holder. Let us tell you that regarding the increasing use of Aadhaar cards in many governments and other important works, UIDAI has already advised people to use them correctly and wisely.
Earlier, UIDAI had said that to establish the genuineness of any Aadhaar card, e-Aadhaar, Aadhaar PVC card, and m-Aadhaar given as proof of identity, the person has to verify the Aadhaar number. Because UIDAI insists on the stand that no 12-digit number is Aadhaar.
