For this, the Bihar cabinet has decided to create 75543 posts for policemen (Bihar Police) under various categories. Bihar cabinet has approved a total of 13 agendas with this decision.
Briefing media persons about the decisions of the cabinet, Additional Chief Secretary S Siddhartha said that the cabinet approved the creation of 7808 posts for the first phase of Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Dial 112 for Police Cadre and Non-Police Cadre Is.
The state government has decided to make direct recruitment of police on 48447 posts to increase the strength of the police force to meet the needs of the growing population. The Additional Chief Secretary said, “The cabinet has also approved 19288 posts under ERSS Phase 2 Recruitment.”
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said during the closing ceremony of Police Week on February 27, 2022, that the state government is aiming to increase the number of policemen in the state from 165 to 170 per one lakh population.
Significantly, the sanctioned number of policemen per lakh people in India is 195.39 while the actual number is 155.78. At the same time, Bihar still has only 100 policemen per one lakh population.
