New Delhi. In Budget 2023, special provisions are likely to be made to strengthen the railway network in the country. In the coming 25 years, a proposal can also be made to lay 1 lakh kilometers of new railway lines in the country. The new tracks will modernize the railway network and also increase the speed of trains. There is every possibility of getting a fund of Rs 10,000 crore for the electrification of the 7,000 km broad gauge line in the budget.
According to a Moneycontrol report, the Central Government intends to provide rail services to every corner of the country. For this, the government’s emphasis is on building new railway lines at a fast pace in the country. In the financial year 2024 itself, the government wants to lay 4,000 kilometers of new lines. Funds for the construction of new railway tracks can be doubled to Rs 50,000 crore.
New rail tracks will be made with modern technology
The new lines will be constructed keeping in mind the requirements of high-speed and semi-high-speed trains. New generation trains like Vande Bharat can run at a speed of 180 kmph. It was only last month that the government may announce 300-400 new Vande Bharat trains in the Union Budget of 2023-24. That’s why the government will build a modern track.
Focus on speed
Indian Railways is committed to increasing the speed of trains. Railways intend to increase the speed of trains to 160 kilometers per hour in the coming times. This year, the cargo growth of railways is expected to be 8.5-10 percent. In the financial year 2021-22, the revenue of Indian Railways increased by 11 percent. Railways said that it achieved freight revenue of Rs 13,560 crore in November 2022. It was Rs 12,206 crore in the same month last year.
A special device will be used to prevent accidents
To prevent train accidents, the Northeast Railway is going to install a special device in trains. This device will work like a black box fitted in planes. This will give information about the causes of the accident. Northeast Railway is going to install a cab audio video visual recording system in trains, which will be installed in the locomotive engines. This device is already installed in the new locomotive engine, while the North Eastern Railway has got permission to install it in the old locomotive engine. In the first phase, it will be installed in about 50 trains.
