The R Street building was used as the Defense Section of the embassy from the 1950s to the early 2000s. The Pakistani cabinet then agreed to the idea of auctioning the building, but it was not sold earlier due to incomplete renovation. This is not the first time that any Pakistani property is being sold abroad.
