Islamabad. Pakistan, which is going through an economic crisis, now has to sell its properties located abroad to meet its expenses. Forced to sell its embassy property in the US, Pakistan has so far found three big businessmen in the bid, including a Jew and an Indian. According to a report in the Pakistani newspaper Dawn News, the highest bidder for $6.8 million is a Jewish group that wants to build a synagogue in the building.
It has been said in the report that an Indian has placed a bid of about 5 million dollars in second place. After this, a Pakistani businessman made a bid of about 4 million dollars. Let us tell you that the government has decided to sell the R Street building, one of the three buildings of the Pakistan Embassy in Washington. At the same time, the Shahbaz government is also considering the privatization of the Roosevelt Hotel located in New York.
The R Street building was used as the Defense Section of the embassy from the 1950s to the early 2000s. However, the diplomatic status of the building was revoked in 2018 after it became non-functional, due to which the government had to pay a bidding tax. The Pakistani cabinet then agreed to the idea of auctioning the building, but it was not sold earlier due to incomplete renovation. This is not the first time that any Pakistani property is being sold abroad.
