17 rounds of talks between the two countries
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are special representatives in the mechanism set up to resolve the India-China border dispute. This mechanism has remained defunct in the current round of border standoff. The two countries have so far held 17 rounds of talks to resolve the deadlock. According to a joint press release issued after the talks, the 17th round of India-China Corps Commander level meeting was held on December 20, in which both sides agreed to maintain close contact and continue the dialogue through military and diplomatic channels.

China commented on relations with Russia
However, he spoke openly about the development of Sino-Russian relations despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Wang Yi said, “As good-neighborly countries, we have deepened friendship and cooperation with Russia, and made the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia more mature and flexible.” He said, Over the past year, China and Russia have firmly supported each other in upholding their respective core interests, and our mutual political and strategic trust has been further strengthened during this period.
