New Delhi. What was expected before the mini-auction of IPL 2023 happened? The utility player dominated the auction. There was a bidding war between the franchises to buy the all-rounder. Especially the franchisee opened its coffers to buy England players. This is a mini auction to say. However, it doesn’t look anything like a Mini. Because only 3 players of England flew away with a quarter of the amount spent in the auction. This includes Sam Karen, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes. Let us tell you that this time all 10 franchises had a total of Rs 206.5 crore to spend in the mini-auction. Out of this Rs 48 crore i.e. a quarter of the total purse amount came in the share of Stokes, Karen, and Brooke.

Sam Caren changed the history of IPL itself. He became the most expensive player in the league. His base price was Rs 2 crore. He was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.50 crore. With this, he became the most expensive player in the IPL. Before him, Chris Morris was the most expensive player in the IPL auction. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crore. Karen played an important role in helping England win the T20 World Cup title this year. He took 3 wickets against Pakistan in the final and took 13 wickets in the entire tournament.

Stokes third most expensive player in the IPL
After Karen, Ben Stokes was the second most expensive England player in the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings for 16.25 crores. He became the third most expensive player in IPL history and the most expensive player of Chennai Super Kings. Under the captaincy of Stokes, England had a bang in Test cricket this year. It was under his leadership that the England team recently made a clean sweep of Pakistan in the Test series at their home. Stokes also won England by scoring a half-century in the final of the T20 World Cup. He has been sold for a hefty price in IPL earlier also. Stokes got a lot of money in his very first IPL season. He was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017 for Rs 14.5 crore.

Brooke got 12 times the base price

England’s middle-order batsman Harry Booker entered the IPL auction for the first time. The bidding started at 2 crores and stopped after crossing 13 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad added this batsman for Rs 13.25 crore. He was bought by Hyderabad for almost 12 times more than the base price of 1.5 crores. Brook recently batted in T20 style in the 3 Test series against Pakistan. He scored a century on all three Tests. 468 runs came out of his bat.
