MCD Results: Most of the candidates from political families won, and the richest candidate lost
Delhi MCD Election Result: AAP’s Bobby, the only ‘transgender’ candidate in the MCD elections, defeated Varuna Dhaka of Congress by 6,714 votes in Sultanpur A seat. Dhaka is the daughter-in-law of Jaikishan, former MLA of Sultanpur Majra. BJP’s richest candidate Ram Dev Sharma had to face defeat in the Ballimaran seat in the corporation elections.
New Delhi. In the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, most of the candidates belonging to political families won, while the richest candidate had to face defeat. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Shoaib Iqbal’s son and AAP candidate Aale Mohammad Iqbal defeated Congress candidate Mohammad Hamid by 17,134 votes. This is the biggest victory in this MCD election. Iqbal got 19,199 votes while Hamid, who came second, got only 2,643 votes.
Shagufta Chowdhary, the daughter-in-law of Seelampur’s former MLA Mateen Ahmed, won by a margin of 15,193 votes. This was the second-biggest margin of victory in this election. He defeated AAP’s sitting MLA Abdul Rehman’s wife Asma Rehman from the Seelampur assembly seat. Sunrika Sharma, the wife of Delhi BJP vice-president Aditya Jha, was defeated by AAP’s Preeti by 2,643 votes in the Dilshad Colony ward.
AAP MLA Pawandeep Sahni’s son defeats BJP candidate
In Chittaranjan Park, AAP’s Ashu Thakur defeated BJP’s Kanchan Chowdhary with the least margin (44). Chowdhary is the daughter of former corporate Subhash Bhadana. Kunwar Arjun Pal Singh Marwah, son of former Jangpura MLA Davinder Singh Marwah, who recently joined the BJP, defeated AAP candidate Subhash Malhotra in the Lajpat Nagar ward. Pradeep Sahni, son of AAP MLA Pawandeep Sahni, defeated BJP’s Ravinder Kumar by 1,216 votes in Chandni Chowk ward.
Former Nangloi MLA Bijendra Singh’s son got the victory
Joginder, son of former Congress MLA Balram Tanwar, had to face defeat in the Bhati ward by a margin of 4,000 votes. In Tigri, Jyoti Prakash Jarwal, wife of AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal, defeated BJP candidate Meera by a margin of 6,191 votes. Ariba, daughter of former Congress MLA from Okhla Asif Mohammad Khan, won from the Abul Fazal Enclave seat. Mandeep, son of former Nangloi MLA Bijendra Singh, won from the Nihal Vihar ward.
