Preparations are on in full swing to hold the winter session of Parliament in the existing building starting from December 7, while with the November deadline for completion of the new building looming, efforts are on to complete the project at the earliest. Efforts are being made. Official sources gave this information on Thursday. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore told the Lok Sabha on August 4 that the physical progress of the new Parliament House is 70 percent. He had said that the deadline for the completion of this project was in November.
Parliament House construction work affected
Sources said that along with the Kovid epidemic, there were many other reasons including the Russia-Ukraine war, which affected the construction work of the new Parliament House. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the supply from abroad was affected. An official source told PTI-language, ‘When you look at the terms of the contract, unforeseen circumstances are also mentioned in the document. The Ukraine-Russia war is an unforeseen circumstance and the third wave of the Kovid-19 pandemic was also an unforeseen circumstance.
The Winter session will run till December 29
Another source said that preparations are on in full swing to hold the winter session in the existing Parliament building. It will start from 7th December till 29th December. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on November 4 that the construction work of the new Parliament House is going on at a fast pace. The new Parliament building is part of the ‘Central Vista’ project.
PM Modi laid the foundation of the new Parliament House
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament House in December 2020 and it is being constructed by Tata Projects Limited. The new building will also have a grand Constitution Hall, a lounge for parliamentarians, a library, committee rooms, catering areas, and ample parking space to reflect India’s democratic heritage.
