New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the sixth Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur. The Prime Minister flagged off the new Vande Bharat from Nagpur in Maharashtra. The Ministry of Railways has a target to put 75 Vande Bharat trains on track by August next year. According to the Ministry of Railways, 35 Vande Bharat rakes (the entire train consisting of coaches other than the engine) have been permitted for this financial year. At the same time, permission has been given for 67 rakes for the financial year 2023-24.
The first Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on 15 February 2019. This train ran between New Delhi to Varanasi. After this, the fifth train was sent from Mysore to Chennai on the 11th of last month.
Fast growing production
An official of the Ministry of Railways said that so far 5 Vande Bharat trains have been made in the Integral Coach Factory. He said that their production is being increased rapidly. He further said that the actual production will depend on how the supply chain is, which is growing very fast at the moment. According to the official, initial production always takes a lot of time. He said that we are moving towards bulk production and it is expected that with the help of this the target will be met by the deadline.
On which routes will the train run
Regarding the routes of the train, he said that it is a continuous process to decide the route for the new Vande Bharat. He said that the route of a new train is decided on the basis of ease of operation, traffic, availability of rolling stock, computing demands, and many other factors.
400 Vande Bharat Express in 3 years
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said in her budget speech that 400 new generation Vande Bharat trains will be developed and manufactured in the next 3 years. The maximum speed of Vande Bharat Express is 160 kilometers per hour. It has travel classes like the Shatabdi train but the facilities are better than that. Presently Vande Bharat Express operates between New Delhi to Shri Vaishno Devi Mata, New Delhi to Varanasi, Gandhinagar Capital to Mumbai Central, Amb Andaura to New Delhi, and Mysore to Chennai Central.
