New Delhi. Once again the shadow of fixing has started looming in cricket. The Anti-Corruption Unit of the ICC has started its investigation. The matches of the Abu Dhabi T20 League were played in the past. The ICC is investigating six cases of corruption in the tournament held between November 23 and December 4. A total of 8 teams had entered the tournament which lasted for 2 weeks and 33 matches including the final were played. In the final, Deccan Gladiators defeated New York Strikers by 37 runs. Star cricketers like Suresh Raina, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran from India, and Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan and Orion Morgan from New York had landed on behalf of Gladiators.

According to the news of the UK Daily Mail, ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit had received more than a dozen complaints regarding corruption in the T10 tournament. The ICC investigation focuses on betting. The betting is estimated to be around Rs 150 crore. All 8 teams of the league were sponsored by betting companies. According to the report, the owners of the franchise were already deciding the bowling and batting order. Many big players were dropped while the batters got out by playing such shots which no one can imagine.

The owner is also under investigation
According to the report, the ICC is also probing the league because only a few fans were seen during the matches while betting took place on a large scale in the matches. There were also reports of suspicious activity around the team and its owners. The ICC is also probing the role of the franchise owners. Even before this, cases of betting have come many times in cricket.
Due to fixing in international cricket, many cricketers including Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir had to go to jail. The ICC had also banned him. Many Indian cricketers including S Sreesanth have also come under its grip.
