- Ingredients for making Chana Dal- Cabbage Tikki
- Soaked Chana Dal – 1 cup
- Cabbage finely chopped – 1/2 cup
- Curd – 2 tbsp Gram
- flour – 1/4 cup
- Green chili – 1 tbsp
- Mint leaves – 2 tbsp
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1.5 tsp
- oil – as needed
- Salt – as per taste
Method for making
Chana Dal-Cabbage Tikki To make Chana Dal-Cabbage Tikki, first soak the Chana Dal in water for 4-5 hours. After the fixed time, put the lentils in a strainer and drain the water. After this fine chop cabbage, green chilies, and mint. Now add chana dal, green chilies, and a little water in a mixer jar and grind them to make a coarse paste. Take out the prepared paste in a big mixing bowl.
Now add chopped cabbage, cumin powder, turmeric, and mint leaves to the paste and mix. After this, add curd, gram flour, and salt as per taste to the mixture and mix everything well. After this, divide the mixture separately in equal proportions. After this, take one part in hand and first make a circle from it and then press it and give it the shape of Tikki. Similarly, make tikkis one by one and keep them separately on a plate.
Now take a nonstick pan/tawa and keep it on medium heat for heating. When the griddle becomes hot, put some oil on it and spread it all around. Roast the tikkis according to the capacity of the pan. After roasting for some time, pour oil on the edge of the tikki and then turn it over after a few seconds. Using oil as required, roast the Chana Dal Cabbage Tikki till it turns golden brown in color from both sides.
It may take up to 3-4 minutes to cook the tikkis properly. Keep in mind that the tikki has to be baked on a low flame. This will make the tikkis golden and crispy.
