New Delhi. RS Sodhi, Managing Director of the famous dairy brand Amul, has resigned. He was on an extension for the last 4 years. Jayen Mehta has been given the charge of Managing Director. After a few months, Amul will get new MD. Shankarsinh Rana, chairman of Gandhinagar Madhur Dairy, has confirmed this.
The decision
to replace Sodhi was taken at a board meeting of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the farmers’ cooperative that operates the Amul brand. GCMMF mainly sells milk in the markets of Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, and Mumbai. This cooperative institute sells more than 150 lakh liters of milk per day, out of which about 40 lakh liters of milk are sold in Delhi-NCR.
RS Sodhi was the MD of Amul for the last 13 years
After being appointed at the helm of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation in 2010, RS Sodhi was leading the company as its MD for almost the last 13 years. Sodhi was first appointed to the top post of Amul in 2010. In 2017, he was given an extension of another 5 years. Sodhi first joined Amul in 1982 as a senior sales officer. From 2000-2004, he worked as its General Manager (Marketing), and in June 2010, he was promoted to the post of Managing Director.
Jayen Mehta has been associated with Amul for 31 years.
has been associated with Amul for the last 31 years. He is currently posted as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Prior to this, he had also worked as the Brand Manager, Group Product Manager, and General Manager of the company in the marketing function.
