Chandigarh: 235 officers who are on mass leave against the alleged ‘illegal’ arrest of a PCS officer in Punjab have announced to return to work. The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab (AAP Government) had ordered all these PCS officers who went on mass leave to return to work by 2 pm. After the ultimatum of Mann Sarkar (Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann), now these officers have decided to return to work. The government had said that if the officers do not return to work, they will be suspended.

The government had issued orders of ‘service in break’ with
the PCS officers in Punjab, now the government had refused to hold any kind of talks or meetings, but later Principal Private Secretary A.K. Venu Prasad agreed to talk. The Chief Secretary of the state had written a letter to these officers saying that their services during mass leave or strike would be considered as dice non i.e. “service in the break”. This order will directly affect the promotion, pension, and other benefits of the officers.
Those days of dice non-officers are called when they do not provide any of their services to the government and administration. Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua has said that now there is no question of any kind of talks with the employees. He said that a meeting of officials with the CM has already taken place on Tuesday and he was told that all his complaints would be addressed.
PCS officers protesting the arrest of Ludhiana RTA Narinder Singh Dhaliwal by the Vigilance Bureau without prior approval under the Prevention of Corruption Act. CM Mann had assured on Tuesday that he will not allow injustice to happen to any officer, provided he does not indulge in corrupt practices. Giving information in a press conference, Principal Private Secretary to CM A Venu Prasad said that PCS officers had a meeting with CM Mann. This impasse ended only after this meeting.
