During the special campaign conducted on the instructions of the Police Headquarters in Bihar, 920 SIM cards have been closed across the state, which was started on fake documents (Sim Card on Fake Documents). In this case, 170 FIRs have also been registered in different districts of the state. In fact, SIM cards issued with fake name-address and documents are being used the most in cyber fraud. In such a special campaign conducted on the instructions of Bihar Police Headquarters, in the year 2022, 920 such SIM cards were closed, which were started on fake documents. The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has instructed the SPs of all the districts to ensure strict compliance with SIM card registration.
It will be difficult to get a new SIM card in Bihar if action is taken on the orders of the police headquarters. Now instructions have been given to take action against those who sell pre-activated sims. Police Headquarters has given this instruction after increasing incidents of cybercrime. All the SPs have been instructed to immediately register a case under the IPC section against those who sell activated SIMs and arrest them.
Police will keep an eye on those who sell and buy SIM
It has also been said in the instructions that keep an eye on the people selling SIMs in their respective districts and also keep an eye on the documents of the people buying the SIMs. Along with this, instructions have also been given to deactivate the illegally purchased SIM cards. This instruction has been given in view of the increasing cybercrime in Bihar. In recent times it has been seen that cybercriminals are using pre-activated sims on the basis of fake documents. Due to this, the police are facing difficulties in taking action.
Most fake sim cards found in this district
ADG Nayyar Hasnain Khan of the Economic Offenses Unit, the nodal agency of cybercrime, told that all the districts have been directed to be strict regarding fake SIMs. Telecom companies have also been asked to inform the police about people taking SIMs on fake documents and to register an FIR. Its compliance has already started in many districts. In the fake SIM card case, 35 FIRs have been registered in Madhubani, 30 in Nalanda, 21 in Bhojpur, 16 in Samastipur, 10 in Lakhisarai and eight each in Patna and Jammu. A maximum of 219 fake SIM cards have been found in the Gaya district. Two FIRs have been registered in this case, in which 195 people are involved.
These districts of Bihar are hot spots for cybercrime
Apart from this, 135 fake SIM cards in the Madhubani district, while 71 fake SIM cards in Supaul have been marked and closed. According to the Bihar Police Headquarters, the capital Patna, Nawada, Nalanda, Gaya, Sheikhpura, and Jamui have been marked as hot spots in Bihar in terms of cybercrime. In these districts, cases of cyber fraud have come to the fore through fake SIM cards not only from the people of the state but also from outside Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Continuous arrests have also been made regarding this. In such a situation, the SPs of these districts have been specially asked to keep an eye on the police headquarters. Instructions have also been issued to mark the people who follow the rules of TRAI and take strict action.
