New Delhi. Google’s parent company Alphabet recently announced the layoff of 12,000 employees. While thousands of employees have become unemployed due to this announcement of the company, many facilities have been snatched away from the people whose jobs are left. Till now the employees who are enjoying body massage in Google free will no longer get this facility. This has happened because 27 massage therapists are also included in the employees whose removal the company has announced.

Of these 27 in-house massage therapists, 24 were employed in Google’s Mountain View office and 3 in the Southern California markets of Los Angeles and Irvine. This is the biggest layoff in Google’s 25-year history. CEO Sundar Pichai told the employees in an e-mail that he takes full responsibility for this decision of the company. After announcing the retrenchment, Pichai said that the company will provide full help to the fired employees.

The total number of layoffs in America’s four largest technology companies has reached 51,000. These companies have done layoffs amid fears of recession. About two lakh IT employees have been retrenched since November last year.

Domestic social media company Sharechat has decided to lay off 20 percent of its employees. More than 500 employees have lost their jobs due to this decision.
