New Delhi. Fresh snowfall on Monday affected road and air traffic in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, including Kashmir. The Kashmir Valley was cut off from the rest of the country on Monday and normal life was thrown out of gear in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Due to heavy snowfall, many highways and other roads were forced to be closed. The power supply was also interrupted in many areas in these hilly states. Along with this, an avalanche warning has been issued in 10 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and some areas of Himachal Pradesh.

According to a Times of India report, 68 flights to and from Srinagar were canceled and the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed following heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Kashmir and Jammu on Monday morning. . Between Chandrakot and Banihal, the highway had to be closed due to falling of stones and mudslides at many places. While 496 roads were closed due to heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. The Manali-Keylong road was completely closed. Everyday life of people in Shimla, Lahaul, Spiti, and Kinnoor districts came to a standstill. Most of the roads in these places were closed due to heavy snowfall. Along with this, the electricity supply and water supply were also affected.

Vehicular movement came to a standstill after snowfall on the Gangotri and Yamunotri National Highways in Uttarakhand. However, some parts of both these National Highways were cleared by the evening. Along with this, at least 10 link roads were also closed in Uttarakhand. On the other hand, 90 cm on the south side of the Atal tunnel in Himachal Pradesh. Snow fell, which is the highest in the state. Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority has issued Avalanche warnings in Doda, Kishtwar, and Poonch districts. In Himachal Pradesh too, an avalanche warning has been issued for the Manali-Leh axis, Dhundi, and Beas Kund areas.
