Announcement of 412 gallantry awards, Kirti Chakra to Major Shubhang, know who got Shaurya Chakra
The President has approved 412 gallantry awards and other defense decorations to armed forces personnel and others on the eve of 74th Republic Day. These include 6 Kirti Chakras including 2 Army and 4 Home Ministry (4 posthumously), 15 Shaurya Chakras including 7 Army, 5 Air Force, 3 MHA (2 posthumous), 93 Sena Medals (including 4 posthumous) and one Sena Medal Bar, 1 Navy Medal (Gallantry) posthumously, 7 Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry), 29 Param Vishisht Seva Medal.
3 Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, 52 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 1 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal Bar, 10 Yudh Seva Medal, 4 Sena Medal Bar (Devotion to Duty), 36 Sena Medal, 2 Navy Medal Bar (Posthumous), 11 Navy Medal ( Devotion to Duty) including 3 posthumous, 14 Vayu Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty), 2 Vishisht Seva Medal Bars and 126 Vishisht Seva Medals. Major Shubhang and Naik Jitendra Singh will be honored with Kirti Chakra. Indian Coast Guard Director General Varinder Singh Pathania was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. A total of 29 serving and retired officers have been awarded PVSM this year for their distinguished services.
Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla has been awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM). 3 Corps Commander Lt Gen R.K. Tiwari and 14 Corps Chief Lt Gen A.K. Sengupta was also honored with UYSM.
Brigadier Sanjay Mishra of Army Research and Referral Hospital was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on this 74th Republic Day. A total of 52 officers from the three services have been awarded the AVSM this year.
Indian Army dog ’Zoom’ of 28 Army Dog Unit was posthumously awarded the Mention-in-Despatches gallantry award. On October 9 last year, Zoom died of two bullet injuries during an operation in Tangpawa area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. (Input from ANI)
Late Commander Nishant Singh was awarded the Navy Medal (Shaurya Chakra, posthumously) for saving the life of his trainee pilot in a MiG-29K air crash in November 2020.
