New Delhi. The Indian Army has set an example by posting a woman officer on the world’s highest battlefield. The Army has deployed Captain Shiva Chauhan, a woman officer of the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps, in Siachen. At present, Captain Shiva Chauhan is performing his duty at the Kumar post situated at an altitude of 15,632 feet.
This is the first time that a woman officer has been posted on this dangerous post by the Indian Army. The Fire Fury Corps tweeted, “Captain Shiva Chauhan of Fire and Fury Sappers becomes the first woman officer to be actively deployed at Kumar Post after completing grueling training at the world’s highest battlefield.”
The Siachen Glacier is the highest battlefield in the world and was opened for tourism in September 2021.
