Peru:  A major accident took place on Saturday in Peru, located in the continent of South America. A bus carrying 60 passengers fell off a cliff in northern Peru, killing 24 people. Police said some of the passengers were from Haiti, as the number of Haitian immigrants in Peru is increasing, although the condition of those on the bus was not clear. The police have given this information to the local media. According to the AP, the accident happened at a difficult spot known as the “Devil’s Curve”, but the cause is under investigation.

Peru’s transport supervisory agency (SUTRAN) confirmed the accident in a statement but did not give the death toll and the number of injured. Sutran said the accident happened in a bus belonging to the company Q’Orianka Tours Aguila Dorada in the El Alto district in the far north of Peru. During the accident, many passengers were able to jump from the bus and saved themselves, but most were trapped inside.
