In fact, the paid feature was not available on Twitter to make accounts authentic through Blue Tick, in such a situation none of the Taliban accounts could get Blue Tick, but now the Taliban is using the new Twitter Blue service. Buying it through.
At least two Taliban officials and four key supporters in Afghanistan are currently using the checkmark. Hidayatullah, the head of the Taliban’s information department, now has a blue tick. He has 187,000 followers and regularly posts information related to the Taliban administration. According to local media, Hidayatullah had removed the paid-for blue tick last month, but it has now returned to his account.
Abdul Haq Hammad, head of the media watchdog at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture, also has a blue tick on his account, which has 170,000 followers.
Prominent supporters of the Taliban have also got the blue tick. Muhammad Jalal, previously identified as a Taliban official, on Monday, praised Twitter’s new owner, saying Elon Musk is “making Twitter great again”.
Before the introduction of Twitter Blue, none of the accounts of Taliban officials had a blue tick mark. After their return to power in Kabul in August 2021, the group took over the verified accounts run by the previous administration, including the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The account of the sports body is now gold-ticked. Under Twitter’s new policies, gold checkmarks indicate businesses, while gray ones are for other users, such as government officials.
