US officials said on Tuesday that it would be a major step forward in Kyiv’s efforts to wrest territory from Russia. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the White House is expected to announce the decision on Wednesday.
He told that the number of Abram tanks can be around 30. Let us tell you that in the last month, Pentagon officials had expressed doubts about sending Abrams. Officials were concerned about how Ukraine would maintain the advanced tanks, which require extensive training and service. Along with this, he also said that it may take years for tanks to actually reach any Ukrainian battlefield.
How powerful are the M-1 Abrams tanks
The M1 Abrams, introduced in the year 1980, has a reputation as the best tank in the world. It was named after General Creighton Abrams, a major commander of military operations during the Vietnam War. This in itself is quite advanced in terms of technology. It is armed with a main gun that can shoot projectiles up to 4.7 inches (120 mm) in size and is heavily hardened armor with additional layers of steel and depleted uranium. It also has a caterpillar track driven by a gas turbine engine.
The biggest reason for the popularity of the M1 Abrams tank in the war is its running speed. It is not only unbelievable but also amazing. It has steel plates at the bottom which makes it different from other normal tires. The chains of the steel plates fitted in these are linked together and allow it to move around. For this reason, it is adept at dealing with enemies in every direction.
