Islamabad: Turkey has also given a deep blow to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In fact, Shehbaz had planned to visit Turkey, an earthquake-hit country, but Turkish officials said two days later that the President was busy with relief work in Ankara, while Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Turkey on Sunday and President Recep Also met Tayyip Erdogan, due to which Pakistan has been insulted globally.

Turkey is focusing on ramping up relief efforts after a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck its southeast region and neighboring Syria. More than 33,000 people have died in this devastating earthquake and the casualties are expected to increase further as the rescue operation is still going on. He canceled his visit after Turkey refused the Prime Minister of Pakistan. At the same time, Turkey allowed the Emir of Qatar to travel with a high-level delegation. Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani reached Turkey on Sunday. On Friday, the Emir donated 50 million Qatari riyals to the earthquake-affected people in Turkey and Syria. Qatar also provided initial assistance with an air bridge and a rescue team equipped with relief and health supplies. Also provided 10,000 cabins.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said in a tweet on Tuesday that Prime Minister Sharif would leave for Ankara on Wednesday morning. He said, “He will express his condolences for the devastation caused by the earthquake, and loss of life and will meet Turkish President (Recep Tayyip) Erdogan. But the Prime Minister’s visit to Turkey has been postponed. A new date will be announced in consultation with allies.”

According to the statement of the military media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Government of Pakistan sent rescue teams and relief material to Turkey through two military aircraft and a passenger aircraft to help the victims. To carry out relief operations in Turkey, on the night of February 6, the air force had left for Adana through a special Pakistan Air Force aircraft. The ISPR said that the teams would remain in Turkey till the completion of the rescue and relief operations.
