New Delhi. French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, can inspire the world to resolve the “serious issue” of Russian aggression against Ukraine. “We are working for the success of India’s G20 chairmanship at a difficult time with the Russian aggression on Ukraine,” he said. He was addressing a program organized through video conference on the occasion of the agreement to buy aircraft between India’s Air India and France’s Airbus.

President Emmanuel Macron said, ‘India, under your leadership, can clearly inspire the whole world and help solve the serious issue we face.’ India has not publicly criticized Russia over the attack in Ukraine, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin last year that ‘today is not an era of war’. Macron said the deal between Air India and Airbus for the acquisition of 250 aircraft is a milestone in the deep strategic and friendly partnership between India and France.
