Under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, which started in the year 2015, about 3 crore accounts have been opened so far. In the year 2015, the Modi government started the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. According to a report, about 33 lakh accounts are opened every year in this scheme and till now about 3 crore accounts have been opened. But the opening of 11 lakh accounts of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in just 2 days
is a new record.
Features and benefits of the scheme
By depositing money in Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, a huge fund can be earned when the daughter grows up. The duration of this scheme is 21 years and in this money has to be deposited for 14 years and in the 21st year the full amount with interest is received. In this scheme, you can earn a huge amount every year through small savings.
Suppose, you open a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account for a 2-year-old daughter and deposit about Rs 4100 every month and Rs 50 thousand in a year in this scheme, then a total of Rs 7 lakh will be deposited in 14 years. On completion of the account in the 21st year, your daughter will get a total of Rs.23,41,073. This means more than 16 lakh interest will be available in this scheme. Although this calculation is based on the current interest rate of 7.6 percent.
There is no compulsion to deposit money every month in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. You can also deposit a lump sum amount in a financial year. A post office or any bank account can be opened under this scheme.
