Dough will be cheaper, the government will sell 20 lakh tonnes in the open market to reduce the prices of wheat
The government has decided that the Indian Food Corporation will bring 20 lakh tonnes of additional wheat to the open market under the ( FCI ) Open Market Sales Scheme ( OMSS ).
The central government has decided to sell an additional 20 lakh tonnes of wheat in the open market to reduce the prices of wheat and flour। On 25 January, the center announced the sale of 30 lakh tonnes of wheat from its buffer stock in the open market to overcome the rise in prices of wheat and wheat flour।
According to a government statement released on Tuesday, The government has decided that the Indian Food Corporation will bring 20 lakh tonnes of additional wheat to the open market under the ( FCI ) Open Market Sales Scheme ( OMSS )। The stock will be for sale to flour mills / private traders / bulk buyers / manufacturers of wheat products through e-auction।
Sources said that the proposal to sell the wheat stock in the open market was taken up by a group of ministers। The statement said, ‘ ‘ has so far decided to sell 50 lakh tonnes (30 + 20 lakh tonnes ) wheat under OMSS। Decisions such as a reduction in the reserve price with the additional sale of 20 lakh tonnes of wheat will help reduce the market price of wheat and wheat products for consumers.
