But now a big problem has arisen for Japan. Flu Cases in Japan are now wreaking havoc in Japan. Flu cases in the country have increased so much that they have reached the level of epidemic warning. The Health Ministry said on Saturday that the number of flu patients across Japan has reached the epidemic alert level in the country for the week ending January 29.
Quoting data released by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, the news agency Xinhua said that the average number of patients in each medical institution across the country is 10.36, which has crossed the 10 benchmarks of the warning level. The alert level indicates the likelihood of an epidemic coming in the coming four weeks.
More than 51,000 cases in a week
Data shows that nearly 5,000 surveillance medical institutions in all 47 prefectures of Japan have reported a total of more than 51,000 influenza cases during a regular seven-day period.
According to the per-hospital in the prefecture, the maximum number of patients has been reported in Okinawa at 41.23, followed by 25.38 in Fukui, 24.34 in Osaka and 21.70 in Fukuoka.
In 2021 and 2022, strict COVID-19 measures apparently helped keep flu infections at a much lower level, experts warned here, with flu infections likely to be more widespread than in normal years
