G-20 Foreign Minister Meet: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov lashed out at the western countries in the G-20 meeting. Addressing the foreign ministers’ meeting on Thursday, he said that the western countries have made a mockery of the G-20 agenda. He said that the issue of Ukraine has dominated the development issues raised by India. For this, he has apologized to India and the G-20 ally southern countries.
Apologizing to India, the Russian Foreign Minister said, ‘I want to apologize to the host India and our allies from the countries of the Global South for the indecent behaviour of several Western delegations, who have turned the work on the G20 agenda into a joke and are trying to undermine their economic Want to impose failure on other countries, especially on Russia. He said that we are seeing western countries ruining economic relations, they are converting these relations into weapons and energy sectors.
Lavrov said Russia will continue to make important contributions to ensuring economic stability. He said, ‘We are ready for a fair dialogue in the G-20. We hope that the Delhi Summit to be held in September this year will reduce the selfish policy of western countries a little. The first session of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on Thursday focused on multilateralism, food and energy security and the development of cooperation.
The G20 meeting started with the address of PM Modi. In his address, he gave the message that the issue of Russia-Ukraine should not dominate the rest of the agenda of the meeting. He said, ‘We are meeting in an era of deep differences. We all have our own position and our own perspective on how these differences can be resolved. However, as the leading economies of the world, we also have a responsibility towards countries that are not members of the G-20.
Praising the Prime Minister’s address, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that this is a glimpse of the responsible and balanced leadership of PM Modi. During this, several bilateral meetings took place between Foreign Minister Jaishankar and Lavrov.
