New Delhi: Once again Iraq has been shaken by the gruesome and devastating car bomb blast. Five people have been tragically killed and four others are said to be injured in a dangerous car bomb explosion in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital. A local security source said that the car bomb blast was so severe that five people were blown to pieces and four others were also very seriously injured. Thankfully there were not too many people around the car, otherwise, there could have been dozens of deaths. Iraq police have arrived at the scene to investigate the car bombing. Panic has spread among the people around.
Major Alaa al-Sadi of Diyala police told international media that the bomb went off in a car parked on the side of the road on Monday evening outside the city of Maqdadiyah, 100 km northeast of Iraq’s capital Baghdad. After this, Iraqi security forces sealed the area and started investigating the incident. So far no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Sporadic attacks still plague Iraq despite an improvement in the security situation following the defeat of Islamic State (IS) group extremist militants across the country in 2017. Most of the blasts have been carried out by the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Till now dozens of people have lost their lives in such explosions.
