Maharashtra: The Election Commission recently allotted the party name and election symbol to the ‘Dhanush-Baan‘ Shinde-led camp, in a blow to Uddhav Thackeray and now Bhushan Desai, son of Uddhav loyalist Subhash Desai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has joined the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray, giving another major blow to the Uddhav Thackeray camp. Terming it worrying, Subhash Desai, a key aide of former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, said his son’s move would not change his loyalty to the party and the Thackeray family. Desai tried to play down his son’s involvement in the ruling organisation.
Subhash Desai said that Bhushan Desai had no role in politics or Shiv Sena (UBT). The point to be noted is that. Bhushan Desai was inducted into the Shiv Sena in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde. Shinde and other Shiv Sena leaders welcomed Bhushan Desai into the party at a function. Subhash Desai is a close confidante of the late Balasaheb Thackeray and his son and former CM Uddhav Thackeray family for over five decades.
He also served as a minister in the then Maha Vikas Aghadi government, which was toppled by the Shinde faction in June 2022 following an insurgency. On joining Shiv Sena, Bhushan Desai told media persons that he was impressed by CM Shinde’s style of functioning and decided to join the party after discussing it with his father. He said, I had made up my mind to join Shiv Sena, which follows the ideals of the late Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray. Whatever responsibility the party gives me, I will fulfil it. Shinde and other senior leaders lauded Bhushan Desai for his move, presenting him with party flags and other symbols.
