About 50 years ago, one day in summer, a young Piyush Mishra suffered sexual harassment at the hands of a female relative। This incident shook him for a lifetime, something he recently published in his autobiographical “What is your position” I have written some unheard story.
This thing written in autobiography –
Piyush Mishra says that he has only changed his name and has kept the truth of the people in his book published by Rajkamal Prakashan because “revenge” was not his purpose। Talking about the incident during his studies in 7th grade, he told PTI-language, The book tells the story of his journey from the narrow streets of Gwalior to the cultural centre of Delhi, Mandi House and finally Mumbai.
Good meeting –
”Sex is such a healthy thing that your first meeting with it should be good, otherwise, it scares you for a lifetime, It bothers you for a lifetime। ”I wanted to hide the identity of some people। There is a woman who does not want to be named and some men who are now doing a good job in the film industry। I did not want to take revenge on anyone, nor hurt anyone। In the book, Santap Trivedi, the famous actor, singer and musician, describes his life through the autobiographical character, as his alma mater, The National School of Drama was known in (NSD).
Artist forms appeared –
Mishra, who belongs to a middle-class family of Gwalior, has been vocal and instrumental music, paintings, sculptures, poetry and finally since childhood: Turning to the theatre, he appeared as a multidisciplinary artist। According to the book, even though his father pressured him to pursue a career in medical science, But Mishra left studies in between and decided to join NSD at the age of 20। It will start a lifelong romance with theatre and acting.
He played as an actor, songwriter, and singer in films such as Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Tambool” ( 2004), Anurag Kashyap’s “Gulal” ( 2009) and most notably, “Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012, Made his mark as a screenwriter। Not just his acting, Mishra’s songs are also associated with the audience and especially the younger generation। The songwriters and singers of the music band ‘Ballimaran’ are surprised by the recall value of some of their songs। ”’ Maybe the way I talk connects me to the youth, or that I talk about them, their issues… It is also possible that they see someone like that in me.
West Side Story –
Mishra has written, composed and sung for films such as “Gulal” and “Gangs of Wasseypur। His earlier songs “Home” were written for a dramatic adaptation of the West Side Story – “When the City Sleeps Us”, and “Husna” Was later featured by the international music franchise Coke Studios। After working and excelling with various aspects of film and theatre, Mishra has set a new milestone to achieve himself – film direction.
“I have long wanted to write a novel, but now it has gone out of the way। I do not want to be a music director, nor do I want to sing। I just don’t want to act… Now, I have film direction in my mind। This is something I want to explore। Let’s see when this happens।Mishra is happy that he has not been typecast as an actor and credits his selective nature for this.
Is undergoing a decline –
”I don’t think I’ve been typecast because I’ve always done different roles no matter their size। ‘I had short but different roles in ‘Tamasha’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Gulal’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur। ”I have no problem getting roles। I keep rejecting many things। I reject roles that I think I will not enjoy। Regarding his days in NSD and the question of how the institute is moving now, Mishra said that like everything, Premier Theater School is also facing a decline। “What shall I say, everything is going through a period of decline and it is the same with every educational institution in India। What we had 30 years ago is no longer… There are now large walls around the campus। This was not the case while we were studying”
