In all 90 flights with an all-women crew, Air India is operating 40 flights on domestic and international routes. On the other hand, AI Express is operating 10 international flights and AirAsia is operating more than 40 domestic flights. Of its 1,825 pilots, 275 are women, which is 15 per cent of the crew strength. The company currently has a fleet of around 140 aircraft. According to a media report, Air India is looking for a ‘B777 Captain‘ and for that, it can offer a package of up to Rs 2 crore. The company is hiring executives for the B777 fleet from B737 NG/MAX type-rated pilots with a high level of competence and will pay $21,000 (Rs 17,39,118) per month. If we look at it on an annual basis, it is 2,08,69, 416 is made around Rs. Explain that the airline has placed orders for a total of 840 aircraft to expand its fleet as well as operations. Know how many pilots are needed
The airline will need 30 pilots (15 commanders and 15 first officers) per aircraft. This means around 1,200 pilots will be needed for just the A350. According to sources, a Boeing 777 requires 26 pilots. If the airline inducts 10 such aircraft, it will need 260 pilots. Similarly, 20 Boeing 787 would require around 400 pilots. In all, a total of 660 pilots would be required to induct the 30 wide-body Boeing aircraft, sources said. Similarly, an average of 12 pilots is required for a narrow-body aircraft. At least 4,800 pilots would be needed to induct 400 such aircraft in the fleet.
