Prayagraj: In a joint operation, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Prayagraj Police have arrested Akhlaq Ahmed, brother-in-law of Atiq Ahmed, in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case. According to the police, Akhlaq funded the shooters of Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Akhlaq Ahmed, the brother-in-law of Mafia Atiq Ahmed, had an important role in Umesh Pal’s murder.
Tell that Umesh Pal was shot dead on February 24 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Atiq Ahmed is the prime accused in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal. He is also accused of killing Umesh Pal, the main witness in Raju Pal’s murder. Police have earlier interrogated Akhlaq Ahmed, a resident of Meerut several times in the Umesh Pal murder case. Now he has been arrested from Meerut.
The MP-MLA court convicted gangster-turned-politician Ateeq Ahmed and two others in the 2006 Umesh Pal kidnapping case and sentenced them to life imprisonment, while Ateeq Ahmed’s brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf and six others were acquitted by the court. Is done.
Despite more than 100 cases being registered against former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ateeq Ahmed over the years, this is Ateeq Ahmed’s first conviction. Atiq Ahmed was brought to Prayagraj by road from Sabarmati Jail for the court hearing and was kept in Naini Jail before the hearing of the case. A day after his conviction in the 2006 Umesh Pal kidnapping case, he was taken back to Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail amid tight security.
Umesh pal kidnapping case
After the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal on January 25, 2005, the then-district panchayat member Umesh Pal told the police that he was an eyewitness to the murder. Umesh Pal alleged that when he refused to back down and bow to Ahmed’s pressure, he was abducted at gunpoint on February 28, 2006. An FIR was lodged on July 5, 2007, against Ahmed, his brother and four unidentified persons. Then on July 5, 2007, an FIR was lodged against Atiq Ahmed, his brother and nine others. Police had filed a charge sheet against 11 people in this case. One of them later died.
Ahmed and Ashraf are also accused of being involved in a conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal while they were both in jail.
